» BY AIR: Łódź Lublinek Airport services flights to and from Dortmund, Dublin, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London, Milan and Stockholm. The flights are operated by three airlines: Ryanair, Centralwings and LOT. All necessary details can be found on the airport’s website.
» BY RAIL: Trains from Warsaw to Łódź are operated by Polish National Railways (PKP). Tickets are available from travel agents and international rail ticket outlets. On arrival, you can purchase your ticket at Warszawa Centralna railway station, from where trains to Łódź depart every hour (from 06:20 to 21:20), to arrive at Łódź Fabryczna station in the city centre around 90 minutes later (additionally, there are also a few trains arriving at Łódź Kaliska Station). To get to Warszawa Centralna from Okecie airport you can either take a city bus or a taxi. Note that it can take as long as 40 minutes to get from the airport to the railway station at peak times. Once in Łódź, it is best to take a taxi to get to the conference centre (the 5-minute journey should not cost more than PLN 15 – around €4).
A map of the Conference Centre area is posted below. The railway station is marked on the larger version of the map. Trains from Łódź Fabryczna to Warsaw Central Station depart approximately every hour. The current timetable for a given day can be checked at the webpage of PKP.
» BY ROAD: Traffic drives on the right. Unleaded petrol is available from all filling stations. The Polish motoring association Polski Zwiazek Motorowy (PZM) can be called on 981 nationwide for assistance. Car hire: Self-drive cars are available at Okecie airport or through various car rental offices in Warsaw and also in Łódź. Charges are usually based on a daily rate plus a kilometre charge.
Note that seat belts are compulsory.
